Cloud computing and the 1st amendment
I am regular member of the ANX blog squad, as such I am on the hook every other week to turn in my post. If that’s not enough the other ANX bloggers are pretty damn smart and creative, so there is a high standard to meet in order to stay in the game hence my creativity should stay on high alert all the time. Earlier this week I turned in my blog post and to my horror it was censored by our Chief Blog Inquisitor (that to say my Director of Marketing). I thought it was a great post (and so did he) but it was rated one notch above PG-13 hence could not be published ……… argh….
Being the knucklehead that I am, I got pissed! In my mind it was a violation of my rights under the 1st amendment for freedom of speech. For a moment I considered embarrassing myself in a federal court...

GXS & Inovis Merger
GXS & Inovis Announce Merger
Yesterday, two of the largest VANs in the EDI industry announced plans to merge in 2010. Both GXS and Inovis have long histories serving global EDI customers, and in some capacity their combination will likely affect most companies conducting B2B e-commerce. GXS’ equity owner, Francisco Partners, will be the majority shareholder of the combined company, and GXS CEO Bob Segert will run the company.
With GXS clearly positioned to be in control of the combined company, I spent some time looking through blogs and EDI-related user groups to gauge the marketplace views on the merger. The opinions being articulated were divergent based on source.

PCI Compliance is a Helpful Hassle
One of my favorite summertime activities is camping with my family. Campfires, hiking, outdoor cooking and just unplugging from the daily grind. We camp in a 30' RV which really blurs the line between camping and staying at a hotel. The RV has air conditioning, shower/bathroom, and a full kitchen. It's far from roughing it!
Operating an RV is actually pretty easy but there are some mandatory requirements. Last weekend I finished my annual ritual of preparing the RV for winter storage. It's a bit of a hassle. You need to drain the fresh water system and then add 5 gallons of RV anti-freeze. The solution needs to flow completely through all the PVC plumbing in the unit. That prevents the pipes from bursting when the temperature goes below freezing. This...

When Outsourcing is The Best Choice
I am a weekend warrior (both in sports and other projects). With ANX as the largest EDI vendor to the Automotive Aftermarket, I decided to embark on a project over my Thanksgiving holiday that would support both items. This project would not only feed my inherent love of challenges, but it would also allow me to support the Automotive Aftermarket in a tangible manner by buying parts from numerous vendors.
Replacing the Full Suspension on a Four Wheel Drive Truck
My project for the holiday was simple. Replace the suspension on one of my cars (an FJ Cruiser), turning it into the ultimate all terrain vehicle. My initial plan was to replace the shocks and springs on the truck, giving it more articulation when encountering deep ruts or large mounds during cross-country...
